> iEarn, an (amazing) platform for cross-cultural dialogue
The Media That Matters video, “Why Do White People Have Black Spots”, made me think of the empowering possibilities that exist when youth are connected across the boundaries of continent, nation, state.
One global education project that offers a valuable model and platform for action is iEARN (International Education and Resource Network) , “the world’s largest non-profit global network that enables teachers and youth to use the Internet and other technologies to collaborate on projects that enhance learning and make a difference in the world.”
iEarn started in 1988 with a pilot project between a school in upstate NY and another in Moscow. Today, iEarn is active in more than 130 countries worldwide, offering a mind-boggling array of projects, connections, technical training, face-to-face and digital professional development, etc.
The 20th anniversary video offers a wonderful celebration of the organization’s achievements.
